Digitisation and automation is expected to profoundly change the way we interact and work. Many of you are likely to end up working in jobs that do not yet exist. Preparing you for these unchartered territories means that not only do you have to make sure that you have the right technical skills, but also that you have strong emotional and social intelligence skills.
At the core of these skills is Resilience and Empathy. Resilience, the individual capacity to overcome adverse circumstances and use them as sources for personal development, lies at the core of being able to successfully adapt to change and thus actively engage with our digital world. Empathy, the ability to sense the way others feel and understand their perspective, is a skill at the heart of all effective work and interpersonal relationships. Empathy forms the basis of social awareness and relationship management.
